Mayors Message

More than 50 local business owners attended the Council's Mid-Year Business Networking Event on Tuesday, 25 June 2024 at Pfitzner Furniture on The Parade, Norwood.

Mayor Robert Bria used the event to thank traders for investing in the City and supporting a number of Council initiatives, including the AFL Gather Round, Eastside Business Awards and the Eastern Regional Alliance (ERA) Business Advisory Service.

“Rather than talk about the Council’s success regarding economic development, I wanted to use this networking event as an opportunity to celebrate the tremendous success of local traders in our City, who are working hard to provide exceptional goods and services to the local and wider community,” he said.

“It is because of their commitment, professionalism and ongoing investment, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has been able to record significant growth in consumer spending.”

“In the period from June 2023 to May 2024, Spendmapp data recorded $1.91 billion in expenditure across the Council area, compared to June 2022 to May 2023 when $1.66 billion in expenditure was recorded, resulting in an additional $250 million being injected into the local economy,” he said.

Mayor Bria also presented Mayor’s Business Commendation Awards to the following businesses:

  • Success Tax Professionals - Payneham – 10+ Years Bronze Commendation
  • Adelaide Timber Flooring – 25+ Years Silver Commendation
  • Pfitzner Furniture – 25+ Years Silver Commendation.

“It’s important that the Council recognises businesses which have made a substantial investment in our City over many years, providing high quality goods or services and local employment opportunities.”

“It’s a pleasure presenting these Commendation Awards to businesses at this event, which helps to engender a strong spirt and recognition from the Council,” said Mayor Bria.

The Council sincerely thanks Andrew and David Pfitzner, Directors of Pfitzner Furniture for hosting the event.
