You can borrow up to 100 items in total and enjoy the convenience of returning them to any participating library.

Please note:
- Thermal cameras and CD players: these items must be returned directly to NPSP Libraries and cannot be placed in the external returns chute

Auto-renewals and renewing an item yourself
Auto-renewals
To make borrowing easier, your items will be automatically renewed (up to two times) three days before the due date.
We’ll send an email to your registered address with the new due date, as long as there are no holds on the items.
If an item cannot be renewed, you will receive a courtesy reminder. You can also check renewal dates and reminders by logging into the library catalogue or using the SA Libraries App
Please note: Renewals are based on the original due date, and the renewal period matches the original loan period.
Renew an item
You can renew items yourself starting three days before the due date.
To renew:
- online: log in to your account via the library catalogue or use the SA Libraries App
- by Phone or In-Person: Contact or visit any One Card library
A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address with the new due date. If a renewal cannot be processed, you will receive a courtesy reminder.
Placing holds
You can place up to 30 holds at any time via the online catalogue or the SA Libraries App
Holds can also be placed over the phone or in person. You will be notified by SMS or email when your hold is ready for pickup. If your contact details are not on file, you will receive a notification by post.
Inter-library loans
If the item you need isn’t available through the One Card network, our library staff can request it from various sources:
- State Library: Items can be requested for free but must be used within the library; they cannot be borrowed for home use.
- Academic and Specialist Libraries: Items can be borrowed from libraries across Australia for a fee of $11.20.
This service allows you to access a wider range of materials not available within the One Card network.
