If you have one hour free per fortnight to befriend an older person in your local community, then we need you!
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme aims to help establish and strengthen links between socially or culturally isolated older people and their local community.
Volunteer visitors are matched with an older person living at home or in an Aged Care Home that may be experiencing isolation and who would benefit by the companionship of a regular visitor.
Visits take place on a fortnightly or weekly basis at a mutually convenient time and can be:
- one-to-one
- one visitor to a group
- more than one visitor to a group.
Visits can include the following activities:
- having a chat over a cup of coffee
- going for walks
- playing cards
- reading
- other activities of mutual interest.
Visits are available to older residents living in the Cities of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, Burnside or Campbelltown.
Volunteers are matched based on common interests, culture or complimentary personalities. All volunteers receive a comprehensive induction and ongoing training and support.
All volunteer Community Visitors must undergo a National Criminal History Check.
