Artist and teacher, Denise Maddigan draws creative inspiration from a variety of sources, but she is predominantly attracted to the shapes, colours, movement and textures of plant life, as is represented in her exhibition, Landscape of Plants. Accidental effects with different painting techniques motivate her to experiment with new ideas and methods. Developing abstract or semi-abstract forms is of great interest to her as she finds problem-solving to be a stimulating process, which results in the gradual ‘building’ of the painting.
