Since the event was launched in 1999, the Santos Tour Down Under has delivered strong economic benefits to the South Australian communities and regions who host this iconic event.

efex Stage 3 – Norwood to Uraidla, 147.5km: Thursday, 23 January 2025

New year, new climb. Meet Knotts Hill climb on Pound Road near Ashton, a fresh challenge for the world’s best. It features on an unrelenting stage that also offers an array of classic elements.

Riders will begin in Norwood and head for the slopes of Norton Summit, then push further into the Adelaide Hills and towards the Uraidla finish. The journey there is anything but cruisy, with two big climbs, tight turns and a rollercoaster last approach in the mix.

There are few certainties in bike racing, and none when the stage’s biggest challenge is making its debut.

The Adelaide Hills will be on show in this exciting stage. It will finish with three 35-kilometre loops and three ascents of the Fox Creek Climb – a short but super-steep climb set to be a launchpad for multiple attacks.

Santos Tour Down Under Race Director Stuart O’Grady OAM said the men’s stage three was going to be the toughest stage within the race.

“Spectators at Norwood are always incredible, and the men will need all the support they can get before they head straight up Norton Summit and onto a brand-new climb in Knotts Hill.” 

“This will be our 17^th start at Norwood, and for good reason, the community turns it on every time.”
