There are just two days until you can nominate your favourite business in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters’ Eastside Business Awards and for the first time in its seven-year history there is a Legends Category, recognising local traders and operators for their outstanding success.
Mayor Robert Bria said the introduction of the Legends Category is about acknowledging local businesses that not only have consistently performed at a high level, but clearly have a loyal and committed customer or client base.
To be eligible for the Legends Category a business must be a three-time recipient of the Eastside Business Award in the same category.
“The Council believes it is important that these businesses are duly recognised and their standard of excellence is rewarded,” Mayor Bria said.
“Since these Awards started in 2017 the relationship between the Council and the local business community has grown stronger because there is clear recognition that the Council understands the importance of a thriving and resilient local economy,” he said.
“These Awards help shine a light on the inspirational stories that sit behind the hundreds of businesses that are nominated,” he said.
The 2023 awards attracted 11,062 nominations, a figure he hopes will be eclipsed this year.
The Council is once again partnering with Solstice Media to deliver the Awards.
“The Council has developed a wonderful partnership with Solstice Media, who are great supporters of the small business sector in our City.”
Jim Plouffe, Chief of Staff and Commissioning Editor of Solstice Media said he had been judge on the Eastside Business Awards since they started and the quality of the businesses just gets better and better.
“At Solstice Media, the publisher of InDaily, CityMag and SALIFE, the Awards give us an insight into the businesses that form our core market. Getting to know the owners always garners good stories throughout the year - stories read by a local audience keen to know what is happening in their neighbourhoods.”
“I look forward to seeing the entries this year and hope the public gets behind the important initiative and votes for their favourites.”
Customers, residents, employers and employees can vote online for their favourite business from 7am this Thursday, 15 February 2024.
Businesses must be based within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters to be eligible.
The Eastside Business Awards will be presented at a dinner on 23 April at the Norwood Concert Hall.
